Laurel Morrell

The Houston “Employee of the Year” is Laurel Morrell. 

We received a call one day in 2015 from a friend asking if I had a position open and to tell me that a former acquaintance of mine was looking for a job.  I was given the phone number and asked to call them.  I called and we decided to hire this person knowing that it was going to be a dramatic change in their life and did not know if they could handle it.  This person came from a local moving company in the area where most of what they performed was COD shipments for high end relocations. Easy you might think!  Perform the move, collect the money, deposit the cash, and enter into the computer and Job over!  Right! What a culture shock, when I hired this person she thought they knew everything about moving.  Now we had tariffs (that was definitely a shock, had no clue) Intrastate, Interstate, local, O&I, distribution of cabinets and furniture, storage, SIT, Military, projects, International and whatever else we can create.  Wow, talking about “Deer in the Headlights” they had them.  They said You want me to do What? But all is well, we are 4 years down the road and now this person knows how to handle billing for most Military, Intrastate, Interstate, Projects, International, cabinets & furniture distribution and SIT, and especially LOCAL!

When you call the office and get this person on the phone, you have a sweet, aiming to please, happy voice on the other end of the line. That is a challenge in this business.  She is always upbeat, happy, laughing, meets no stranger and always ready to go to lunch with anyone that will go with her.  She handles all the cabinet billing and processing POD’s and as you may not know, that is a daunting task of approximately 10,000 cabinets per week for the Houston area. She handles all the furniture distribution billing, billing for all SIT shipments, Intrastate billing, and perm storage.  Anything that is asked of this person she is willing to do.
